Karolina Podstawa

Karolina Podstawa is a Lecturer in the Department of European and International Law of the University of Maastricht. She worked as a senior researcher on the FRAME project at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), and contributed to the EUI Centre for Judicial Cooperation projects entailing research on the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in national jurisdictions and subsequent training judges. From 2015 until 2017, she was also an Assistant Professor at the University of Łódź (Poland). 

She holds a PhD from the European University Institute and MAs in Law and Administration (2008) as well as in English Language and Literature (2009) from the University of Łódź (Poland) as well as the LLM from EUI (2009). She acted as a project manager at the EUI Centre for Judicial Cooperation, and dealt as a laywer with the liberalisation of the Polish telecommunications market. She served in the Office of Personal Data Protection Authority in Poland (GIODO).

Her research interests lie in the area of internal and external human rights policies of the European Union (external policy tools were a subject of her PhD thesis), data protection, judicial dialogue and cooperation, and most recently the role of the ISPs in fundamental rights protection.
